#Resbakuna: The vaccination rollout in the Banana Export Industry in Davao Region has commenced today August 4, 2021, for member companies of the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association, Inc. (PBGEA) as part of the economic frontliners under the A4 priority groups.
About 600 doses of COVID-19 jabs intended for first dose were available to banana plantation workers and were administered at the WREC hall vaccination site located inside the Hijo Resources Corporation in Barangay Madaum.
According to PBGEA – Banana Export Industry Foundation (BEIF) Program Manager Yvette Matabalan, the vaccines were sourced out from the A Dose of Hope (ADOH) program, a national vaccine donation initiative of the private sector wherein companies donated to the national government to procure the vaccines for its workers.
For the first batch of its immunization activity, participating companies include the Hijo Resources Corporation, Unifrutti Philippines, Inc., Tristar Group of Banana Companies, and Sumifru Philippines Corporation.
“We will align with the national government’s goal of herd immunity”, says Atty. Princess Balino, Hijo Resources Chief of Legal and Corporate Affairs.
The company is aiming for a 100% vaccination target for the welfare and protection of its workforce, added Balino.
Simultaneously, Tagum Development Corporation, Inc. (TADECO) in Panabo City and Marsman Estate Plantation, Inc. in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas has both conducted its respective vaccination activities.
This vaccination activity was spearheaded by the COVID-19 immunization team from the Tagum City Health Office.
Elizabeth Uy of the Tristar Group of Companies was grateful that their company participated in the national vaccination program to guarantee full protection of their workers against the Coronavirus —and for them to ensure business continuity and livelihood of their employees.
